Jaeryeon actually received the unopened bowl and then checked their own pouch of buttons, while the similar-bowl inquiry stayed separate.

After her shift and private exchange with Mujin, Darae received an ordinary question about a rack tag turning towards a different fixed compartment.

The tag had not left its compartment. It was pointing at another one.

At the first shift of R+119, Darae met Eunjung, the adult responsible for the public rack at a household-mending tool desk in the rotating ring. Three small compartments stood side by side. Their numbers were fixed to synthetic panels. Separate tool-name tags hung from single upper rings. The right-hand tag had swung sideways and stopped above the middle bay.

Eunjung had initially suspected that someone had moved the tools. No complete contents comparison had yet established that.

“The direction of the tag is what we've checked,” Darae said.

Catalog offered no opinion from the photograph. It held the positions and return states entered by the responsible staff; no unprovided view of the rack lived inside the program. Darae lowered the screen and looked at the label's faces. From Eunjung's position in front, it indicated the middle. From a permitted side position clear of traffic, Darae could read it as touching the right-hand bay. A single photograph would do poorly as a judge of whose eyes had failed.

Sodam almost suggested that everyone read it from the front. An actual passer-by with a cup interrupted that convenient population. People approached to return tools as well as borrow them. Some arrived carrying things already. Their bodies had not been supplied with the rack's preferred viewing instructions.

An adult asked for the cord-tightening tool used on personal clothing. Eunjung offered to provide it. When the visitor reached towards the middle bay under the tag, Eunjung asked them to wait, compared the fixed number with the current lending list, and fetched the actual item. Darae opened no compartment to overturn its contents. The facility owned these tools, and its assigned worker handled them.

The borrower thought they had read the tag backwards.

“From where you stood, it pointed elsewhere,” Darae said.

“Then my eyes haven't suddenly deteriorated.”

“I can't answer for your eyes. We did both see the tag.”

They laughed. Eunjung read the item and number again at handover; the borrower nodded. A little turning label had already spent a real person's time.

Darae wanted to hold the tag still. That would solve its direction for exactly as long as her hand remained at work. Instead she asked how it was attached. One ring, Eunjung explained, with the same fittings used elsewhere. The present handover record could say more about when the tags had been changed. Nothing yet said somebody had deliberately turned this one.

A thin cloth beside the rack lifted slowly in ventilation flow. Darae suggested no change to the air setting. The room's air did not exist to keep a label still. Eunjung contacted the responsible facilities adult, Doeun, who could examine the tag and fitting at a specified interval. This was a request about a sign attachment, not work on life support.

Until then the fixed numbers and Eunjung's direct explanation would guide use. They retained a record of how the old arrangement had been read and distinguished it from the current guidance. Eunjung protected the withdrawn tag within the facility's own handling scope. Its removal exposed a number that had been fixed there all along.

“It's big,” Sodam said. “How did people miss it?”

“I read the tool's name first too.”

Existing and being seen first were different accomplishments. The next visitor brought a transport pouch with yesterday's borrowed tool. Eunjung matched the present item and number before completing receipt. Asked whether the label had changed, the worker explained the confusion and temporary guidance.

The visitor remembered thinking the middle bay was right yesterday. That memory did not establish that they had opened the wrong bay. Darae kept the remembered position separate from today's completed return. Another question need not grow backwards simply because this one had ended.

Eunjung considered moving the small return basket to the centre, where the tag had been pointing. Darae asked to watch an actual return first. The next adult came from the left with both hands on a lending pouch. Reaching the proposed central basket would require going round the person borrowing. Before the visitor stretched awkwardly, Eunjung stepped out to the original receiving side and took the pouch there.

“We could move the object to match the label and interrupt a handover that already works,” Darae said.

“A centred basket is less useful than an untwisted person.”

It stayed in its permitted original place. Sodam watched from the passage. Straightening a number need not redesign everybody's route. Darae was relieved to find that edge before the question acquired another desk and three unnecessary drawings.

The pouch's tool reached the responsible hands. An object arriving beside a different compartment changed no ownership. Name, position and receiving person remained distinct. The adult looked at empty hands and remarked how light they felt. Eunjung joked that exactly the borrowed tool had left them. Darae entered no precision measurement for the feeling in somebody's arms.

After the midday handover she drank water by the public passage. Outside the narrow window, structure moved slowly through view. Here in the rotating ring there was weak apparent gravity. Things set down did not behave as they did in the axial cargo area. That was no invitation to throw them. Sodam stopped an empty pouch short of tossing it onto a table edge; they put it directly into its designated container instead.

Darae thought of yesterday's bowl. Lunch had described an old use rather than its present contents. Today's name could be right while its connection to a fixed place was wrong. The two objects deserved better than one broad lesson about labels.

“Thinking slowly enough to slow the water too?” Sodam asked.

“My throat's thirsty. My thoughts are busy.”

“Receive the water first.”

She did. A little dryness left her throat. The cup's next movement could wait until the present one had finished.

Doeun arrived in the afternoon. Before any handling, Darae explained the original observed position, keeping it apart from changes caused by their own hands. Within the permitted facilities scope, Doeun checked the ring and possible movement. A thin tag hung from one point could rotate. How much air or passing contact had caused this particular turn remained unanswered.

The work required a clear passage. Darae and Sodam withdrew to the designated side. Doeun proposed checking whether existing fittings could hold the tag at two points. No new holes in a wall or hull belonged to the job.

Eunjung asked whether it could be finished before evening lending. Doeun could answer after actually matching the parts. The worker would continue direct guidance meanwhile. They posted no unsettled time as a completion time.

A visitor overheard and asked whether borrowing remained possible today. Eunjung explained which lending was available through the staffed desk. Repairing the name tag had not broken the entire stock of tools. Darae thought that distinction more immediately useful than an impressive description of their sign work.

Towards shift's end Eunjung compared today's actual loans and returns against the list. No omission had been found within that check. Darae did not turn the answer into an assertion that the rack had never lost anything. The comparison had a real present end, which was enough to record.

Doeun's parts check carried into the next shift. The next responsible worker received the temporary guidance. Darae's rest need not remain attached to a label all night; the unfinished work had actual next hands. She completed her handover before reading Mujin's private reply.

He suggested checking their work intervals before fixing the next short meal. Her own free time today did not make him available now. She sent the interval she could offer, adding that she wanted somewhere near and needed no drawing to bring. He would reply after checking his actual schedule. No date existed yet, but the wish had travelled to the person it concerned.

At home she left her protected drawing in the bag. Unequal chair legs did not need mending tonight. Nor did the turning tag need to become a new picture. Her own things could stay still while a day changed around them. She ate her supper and rested without turning either into evidence of readiness for tomorrow.

The next handover said Doeun could bring suitable existing fittings. Eunjung added another question. Even after a tag stayed over the correct bay, people might use a different name for the tool they needed. The moving board would soon be held still. A person's words would have to be met in another way.
