The authorized handlers separated panel and cover, finding the white point on the cover without certifying either object's wider performance.

The panel's return missed the owner's available interval, so Darae confirmed real preparation for next-shift collection while the cover remained on its own recovery schedule.

Before receiving the object, the customer asked to see its other side.

On the hundred and fifteenth morning after temporary handover, Darae passed the request to the designated handler. Light alone made front and back difficult to distinguish on the transparent divider. Within the current protection and restraints, the worker showed the surface the owner needed. Nobody simply put the large panel into a hand to be turned at will. Its mass remained in the axis, however little weight it seemed to have.

The owner identified the distinctive corner used to fit the shelf. It matched. Darae received that present identity check. The owner reread the finding that the white point had remained on the cover. This was the return of an indoor shelf divider in its present exterior state, rather than a guarantee for other uses. There was at last an actual object to receive behind the earlier promise of a day.

The owner had rearranged work in expectation of collection yesterday. Darae acknowledged the inconvenience after explaining the actual delay. Receiving something now could not turn yesterday's wait into a day that had never happened. Next time, the owner asked, could proposed times and completed preparation be distinguished sooner? She would retain that request in the present guidance improvement. She promised no future in which all transport ran without delay.

The handover took place at the designated desk. The receipt identified the individual protection, its owner and the parts to recover. The customer accepted the responsibilities belonging to them and departed. Desk departure did not equal arrival at a shelf. Darae retained the stages separately. An object could leave her view while a real answer from the next place still remained to be received.

Sodam showed her the panel's vacant holding position. Before accepting another ordinary object, they were matching the end of the current handover. Beside it the reusable cover remained: whitish mark, transport label and all. The first intake name had acquired two actual endings. One was beginning; one still waited in a separate place.

The owner's arrival acknowledgment came that afternoon. The panel had reached their current work compartment in the agreed protection; its exterior matched. No installation on the shelf was reported. Darae closed the return only within the answer received. The recovery connection for temporary assets remained with the designated worker. Receiving one's own divider did not make the office protection one's property too.

Together, Darae and Sodam read the owner's request about timing. Should the new explanation be much longer, Sodam asked? Perhaps first use the two missing distinctions where they mattered. That afternoon, in an ordinary inquiry, Sodam led with the current proposed time and the time to be confirmed after the worker's actual handover. The inquirer repeated the meaning in their own words.

One conversation did not establish that everybody would understand. It was still a real first use. Darae retained its result and the questions left. She hung no great new principle on the wall. People waiting for an object wanted to know where it was before admiring the size of a rule's lettering. Sodam adjusted the present screen order so the next inquiry could begin with the actual state too.

The cover receiver reconfirmed next shift. Cover and transport mark together; the material and reuse question for the assigned worker afterwards. Darae kept authority to receive distinct from authority to judge later performance. Yuha maintained the present protection into the next handover. The cover stayed in its own place, rather than moving into the panel's conveniently empty one.

That evening, Darae checked her private table arrangement. Their rest interval would fall on the hundred and seventeenth day. One more shift, then an actual meeting. She did not take out every old drawing while waiting. The protected bowl and bag drawings remained hers in storage. She chose new paper for this occasion. It was no portfolio everyone had to see in order to sit with her.

Mujin wanted to bring his ring drawing. Would she look at the still-unchanged section with him? If he wished, yes. She did not offer to repair it. She could hear what he wanted the line to do before giving her impression. A shared table did not turn two papers into shared property. They each prepared what they had chosen to bring.

Touching her bag's short strap, Darae remembered their handhold on the walk. This time one hand would have drawings to carry. Would a day without free hands seem less affectionate? She laughed at having evaluated something that had not happened. She tested the actual protection inside the bag instead. It fitted without folding. A useful answer to a smaller, present question.

On the hundred and sixteenth shift, the cover's receiver arrived at the arranged time. Sodam compared the designated person and scope of recovery. Darae did not complete this handover automatically because the panel's return was closed. Yuha showed the exterior, retained label and small mark. The receiver accepted that state, acknowledging the separate judgment to follow. Only then did the cover leave its place.

“Two days to send back something that looked like one thing,” Sodam said.

“Both went towards their own owners.”

The little mark did not need to disappear first. Its unresolved judgment went with the thing and the person responsible for that question. Darae gave it no grander name than a small whitish mark on the cover. For this handover, that was enough to identify the place everybody had actually compared.

Near shift's end, transport confirmed actual receipt of cover and mark by the designated worker, current state matching. The reuse question had passed on. Darae closed the office return without completing that later decision. No customer object from this intake remained on the office shelf. The white point once hidden by a dark shadow had travelled with the thing it belonged to.

Catalog received the completion people had checked. When the table changed, Darae looked at the physical holding positions too. Yuha's and Sodam's handovers matched. Recoverable office assets were in their designated place. Now there was actual room for another object. A number disappearing from a screen was not the only thing that had ended. She stretched her shoulders in front of the real vacant space.

Sodam received the continuing ordinary inquiries before Darae left. The next day's desk and responsible worker were established for her rest interval. No unfinished question had been made to vanish for a drawing appointment. The two ownership routes were actually closed, and the remaining work had a person able to answer. Work handover came before the bag went over her shoulder.

On the public way into the ring, paper leaves still covered the shop window. The supposedly upside-down leaf from their walk looked like a leaf from this direction too. Darae briefly wanted to ask its maker which way was right. The maker was not there. She let the unanswered curiosity stay outside the intake system and went on smiling.

At home she washed and ate, then chose comfortable ordinary clothes for tomorrow. Walking together and holding hands once had not required a new self at every meeting. She still wanted to smooth a crease at the cuff. Wanting to look good was not automatically pretending. She worked the cloth with her own hands until it lay as she preferred.

She lifted the prepared bag. Carrying it in one hand for long would be awkward; the shoulder strap suited the actual load. Its width would need space among other walkers. She stopped before adding more tools. These were the ones she wanted to use, rather than a defence against every possible shortage. Liking pictures and having a body to carry them both required attention.

That night Mujin confirmed his work and rest complete and the arrangement still possible. Darae checked her own rest and route. They would meet at the agreed table. Could they choose something warm to drink? They would see what the place permitted, she said. No soup beside the paper.

“Don't trust my drawing?”

“I trust my elbow less.”

“I'll put the paper farther from it.”

She laughed alone. In her head, tomorrow's table had been growing perfect. Real objects might occupy different places when they arrived. She put the bag near the door and rested at the proper time. A day spent waiting still used sleep.

On the hundred and seventeenth day, the public table stood inside, clear of the main passage. It offered no grand window full of stars. It was an ordinary low table holding paper under the ring's weak weight. The manager confirmed the current use conditions and their short interval. Darae arrived first, keeping her bag inside her own chair's space.

Mujin came at the arranged time. Before taking out his protected paper, he asked where she wanted to sit. She chose light that would not come from behind her hand. Opposite or beside? They could draw separately and move a little when looking together, she suggested. He agreed and drew his chair in. Even one shared table had two bodies to accommodate.

Darae flattened her paper's edge. Her arm rested comfortably; light reached the whole sheet. Neither person's drawing had to fold to make room for the other. Mujin's old picture stayed protected until he chose to bring it out. He asked for one section to be looked at together. She was ready. The paper was the same one as before and still his.

He pointed to the slightly sloping line. Darae waited to hear why he wanted a change before attaching her taste to it. It was no star outside a window, just the shape his hand had chosen. He opened his mouth. Today, he said, erasing was proving harder than drawing.
