Before Replacement did not date the photograph.
Seorin placed the heading received on the afternoon of January 20 beside the image. When guidance was first written and when its paper was reused as support were different times. A sheet could survive to hold something else. She stopped the words she had nearly added to the photograph's timeline. The envelope covering an instruction did not make its own picture older than the instructed work.
Did this connect to the earlier cover photograph? The company officer asked. It connected to guidance for the same review item, Seorin answered. Actual replacement of the cover was not established here. The original wording had identified an item for retrieval review too; completion could not suddenly appear beneath the third photograph. She left the finished two-picture result intact.
On the morning of January 21, Sodam supplied the document connection from when the instruction was created. It showed preparation order and the review item, but no receiver of a key. The words had been written to keep a worker's packaging move separate from the management-room key. Sodam had not possessed that original key while writing them.
The instruction had been used. Whether anyone followed it through to actual handover remained another question. They had identified its writer and connected the package to historical acceptance. New hands carrying the original key had not been established. As the officer opened the result table, Seorin made no field for envelope contents. Contents were outside what they had agreed to examine.
The second question concerned how far the packaging route now connected. Mijeong's reported move to Dispatch Hold continued to the separate-storage ledger line. Seyeong's direct receipt account, his photograph then, and the bundle's separate-handover mark supported that continuation. Seorin described a comparison of source and transfer route. External names and records did not perform an inspection of what lay inside.
The last question was Common 04. It had identified cover-related packaging in this material as well as the already checked review item. It could not be narrowed to a unique name for the original key. Different materials bearing the same name had not thereby become the same physical object. She kept the earlier two-photo finding beside the newer use of the designation.
The officer sent that account to the next receiver. A short question came back: had they also established where the envelope was now? No, Seorin replied. This connected a historical receipt. It did not newly inspect present physical custody. They put that sentence on the first page rather than leaving it as a qualification after a long explanation.
She reread the boxes on her diagram: Photograph Supplied, Classification Query, Excluded from Transport, Separate Receipt. None said Present Storage Checked. She put the historical date range underneath. If a quick glance made a receiver believe the object had been found today, the drawing still needed work. She gave the final box no extra border that might silently promise more certainty.
Before lunch the company forwarded the result through Yunjae's existing route. They had checked the image's meaning and supply connection. The separate-management-room sentence was an instruction; its actual execution had not newly been confirmed. She requested that receipt of an instruction and performance of it remain distinct in any follow-up. No original device time was corrected.
Yunjae acknowledged the extent and would review the next question. His acknowledgment granted Seorin no new permission to search a management room. The company could complete its present envelope-exterior and transmission assignment. Failure to find the original key did not require holding a finished photo comparison open indefinitely.
The final receiver read the two kinds of photograph back in their own words. The first asked a classification question. The later-site photograph recorded exterior condition at separate receipt. They were not consecutive exposures from one calibrated camera. Seorin listened to the distinction actually received, rather than assuming her explanation had arrived unchanged merely because she had finished speaking.
The two parallel lines now belonged to a guidance form. Its outward arrow was a question about classification then, not proof the envelope had already departed for a destination beyond the frame. She retained the initial observation and wrote its earlier inference beneath the line. More had become known without making her first reading disappear from the record.
The company sent Mijeong the relevant summary. Had the sequence with the blank slip been kept correctly? Seorin had written receipt of the paper first and movement of the packaging afterwards. Mijeong confirmed that. It approved her own described action, not everybody else's records. Inseo received the distinction too and said the present guidance would retain Query instead of allowing the photograph to stand as completed return.
Today's changed wording was not a change to the old file. The company separated the received bundles so the next worker would preserve both. By the time Seorin finished rereading, it was afternoon. Several people now appeared in an answer begun from one photograph. Witnessing, receiving a question, and forwarding a request were different roles. Their names did not thicken into a line of shared intent.
Before leaving, Doun sent the restaurant position again and asked whether to meet at the station exit or the shop. At the shop, she replied. Her work's ending was known; his travel time was not hers to appoint. She closed the result window and packed her bag. Two people could share an evening without one deciding the whole of the other's waiting.
A small step stood before the restaurant door. She arrived first; warm air reached her hands when she opened it. An employee showed her a place, and she took off her coat. Doun arrived shortly afterwards with a wet umbrella. Rain had stopped outside now, but it had been falling when he started. She did not combine the window's present weather with the umbrella's earlier journey.
“What ended today?” he asked after opening the menu.
“Finding what question the envelope photograph was made to ask.”
The route reached a recorded receipt; it had not found the key. He nodded and pointed to one menu line, then waited. She could continue discussing work or choose food. She chose what he indicated. The gaps in an inspection did not need filling with questions across supper.
He asked the employee whether an ingredient he could not eat could be omitted. It could. They ordered after that answer. Seorin moved her water glass and folded the menu. Today's change at their table began with something the person making it could actually do.
Before the food arrived, he corrected his one-door investigation. There was another towards the kitchen. She supposed the outside photograph had not shown it. It had not, he said; that did not entitle him to remove an unseen door from existence. They both smiled. Counting tonight's restaurant doors was not an inquiry proving anyone's old fault.
Rain returned on the walk back. Doun took out his spare umbrella. Seorin showed the one in her own bag, and they opened them separately. The spare had lost its immediate job, he said, but he did not put it away again. Someone might need it. She selected no stranger in advance to make his next scene come true. The crossing signal changed.
At home she stood her wet umbrella open. A company notice said one more acknowledgment belonged on the next-shift list. It was not a request to change the completed comparison. Yunjae's route had accepted the instruction's source as a separate item. Seorin checked that waiting state without opening the work documents at home.
On January 22 the officer presented the distinction first. The envelope result remained finished. The new question concerned whom the first receiving work position had asked to arrange the key's separate handover. It was for the existing records route, not an assignment for her to inspect management-room drawers. She passed on the source explanation she held.
She attached no claim covering every one of Nam Gijun's shifts. Nor did she connect the instruction automatically to Doun's old line work. An original device time and the west channel's seven-hundred-and-eighty-second buffer did not date a guidance document. Old questions in the same city could not borrow one another's answers.
Sodam then identified another part of the same worker guidance. The first extract had retained the instruction and heading, leaving this portion out. Two small boxes read KEY RECEIPT and MANAGEMENT ROOM CHECK. Neither bore completion. That did not prove a failed handover: this was guidance before work. The document separated taking a key from checking at management.
There were no personal names in the receiving classification below. Seorin remembered the blank transport slip without giving these blanks its history. One form lacked a designated recipient; another addressed someone beginning work. Sodam's last answer moved their starting question: the guidance had gone to the worker first, not management. Actual receipt by that worker still needed its own evidence.
Seorin closed the finished photo-comparison bundle. Beside it the new item waited for Yunjae's route. The key was still unfound and no envelope had been opened for her. But what a photograph had never said no longer remained as its supposed answer. At the new item's foot Sodam said one copy had been sent to the worker. On the right edge of the company's extract, a small printed number appeared to identify another copy.
